5 Crucial on-Page SEO Factors

Search engine optimization has been one of those buzz concepts since the early days of the web – at least since the early days of the search engine – but only in the last couple years have people realized how truly important SEO is. Fundamentally, a business or e-commerce shop cannot exist without a strong optimization campaign. However, one of the most common misconceptions is that SEO is elusive and unquantifiable, but this just isn’t true. Not only is SEO quantifiable – there are also many strategies that you can implement in your campaign that will move your site further to the top of the rankings. The key, though, is to first understand the basic building blocks. Here are five crucial on-page SEO factors.

  1. Back links. One of the most important pillars of SEO and a strong optimization campaign is a back link. Any given web page can have a series of back links. For instance, if you have a blog post on the benefits of using one of your products, you may want to include a link to that product. Just make sure, though, that you link relevant words. The more relevancies there are in your links, the stronger your links will be.
  2. Meta data. Out of all the time consuming¬†SEO tasks, adding meta data is easy and takes only a few minutes. If you are using some kind of content platform, like WordPress, you can add this meta data very easily. Moreover, there are plugins that you can use that make the implementation of meta data even easier. Meta data is simply adding the title of your website, like “Tom’s Burgers,” and then adding another line of text that describes your business or enterprise, like “The best burger in Tulsa, Oklahoma.” This will not only boost your SEO, it will help people know what your business is about when they are searching a certain topic online.
  3. Page titles. Like your main meta data, having strong page titles is important because it creates a hierarchy within your website. For instance, instead of just simply titling one of your pages “about” – you may want to say something like, “About Tom’s Burgers.” This adds two important keywords – the name of your business and a certain category of food.
  4. Keyword density. This is another factor that is important, because you don’t want to have too many keywords and you don’t want to have too little. If you have an abundance of keywords, it will look like you are trying to cram your site and cheat the algorithms. If you don’t have enough, the bots may pass up your site. So, make sure that you stay within a 4% range and you should be golden.
  5. High quality content. Another vital factor in your on-page SEO campaign is content. However, you can’t simply have a bunch of automatically generated content – you need to have well-written, relevant content that is actually useful. Most of the web’s search engines try to weed out as much irrelevant and low quality content as possible. The last thing you want is to be the website that gets weeded out and pushed to the back of the line.
